Senior Product Development Chemist at PPG Industries in Gibsonia, PA
As a Senior Product Development Chemist, you will lead independent projects or portion of the larger projects for the solvent-based coating's platform. The goal of the product development team is to commercialize snap cure, eco-friendly, and high solids differentiating coatings. Your work will provide you with the opportunity to grow professionally; while having a direct impact on organic growth of multiple business units globally! Key Responsibilities Plan and conduct experimental work such as formulation, application and testing of solvent-based coatings. Influence, train, and empower associates in daily activities. Actively share ideas for innovative coating systems and application processes. Work closely with customers and customer support labs to learn and understand their needs and incorporate these needs into new product platforms. Work in conjunction with other functions like Manufacturing, EHS, Commercial, Supply Chain and Product Management to ensure product can be manufactured and launched successfully globally. Use project results to develop robust products that can be launched efficiently at key customers. Assist in launch activities as required. Communicate progress on projects across multiple functions (Technical, Commercial, Product and Project management) Maintain and communicate results through written and verbal summaries, and coatings reports including Design FMEA. Work safely, following all lab procedures. Qualifications A formal degree in Chemistry or Chemical engineering or equivalent scientific degree. BS/5
years or MS/3
years of coatings development experience and demonstrated record of accomplishment. Proven track record of leading successful coating's innovations from idea inception to commercialization; including experience with pilot and scale up. Very good cross-cultural communication with a strong desire to work with global teams. Experience with experimental design (DOE) and sophisticated problem solving. About us:
